SFGP Conflict of Interest Policy re: SFGP Endorsements Approved by the CC, 6/8/05 This policy is to codify policy regarding active member privileges regarding participation in the SFGP endorsement process. The purpose of our endorsements is to take positions on initiatives and support candidates that best reflect the Green Party's values. Our endorsements are distributed to registered members of the Green Party and other progressive voters in SF to help inform their vote. As per our bylaws, any registered Green may solicit active membership status and participate in our party's endorsement process. Any active member is entitled to vote at endorsement meetings. As the SFGP is an activist political party, we encourage our members to participate in local elections; this builds the capacity of our activists and promotes cooperation and solidarity with other progressive organizations working for social change. In order to accommodate activists involvement, all Green Party activists who are active members in good standing shall have the right to participate in all endorsement decisions during the election, even for races that they are working on as either paid staff or as a volunteer. Individual working groups may set their own internal structure for conflict of interest policies. The CC informally calls upon WG chairs with conflicts in campaigns to disclose and recuse if appropriate. Active members with financial conflicts of interest in a vote should disclose this before voting.
